What is TableSync Codex?
TableSync Codex is a free, offline rules reference for fifth edition tabletop games, on Android or in any browser. It holds every spell, monster, item, class, species, background, feat, condition and rules section in the SRD 5.1 and 5.2.1, behind one search that tolerates typos.
Mid-session, someone always needs a rule now: what grappled does, how far a Fireball reaches, what an Owlbear's multiattack is. Codex is for that moment, and for the DM between sessions, and for the player without a character sheet open. It is the reference on its own, cross-linked and filterable, for anyone at the table.
The TableSync Player keeps its compendium inside the character sheet. Codex is the full reference for people who are not holding a character.
What can TableSync Codex do?
Five tabs: Search, Spells, Monsters, Items and Rules.
One search for everything
Results arrive as you type, ranked exact name first, then names that start with what you typed, then words, then body text, grouped by kind with counts. Case, punctuation, plurals and a one-letter typo do not stop it: "firebal" finds Fireball.
Filters for every list
Spells by level, school, class, casting time, range, concentration, ritual, components, damage type and saving throw. Monsters by challenge rating, type, size, alignment and legendary. Items by type, rarity, attunement, cost and weight.
Newest printing first
Where a record exists in both the 2014 and the 2024 SRD, the newest is shown and the other is one tap away. Every record says which it is: SRD 5.1 or SRD 5.2.1.
Typeset to be read
Spell cards with level, school, casting time, range, components, duration and higher levels; monster stat blocks; item cards; class pages with the level table and the features at each level.
Everything links
A condition, spell, monster, item or rule named in any text opens it, and Back returns to where you were.
Dice you can tap
Every dice expression in a record rolls when tapped, with the same dice as TableSync Player.
Recents and lists
The last records you opened, and favourites pinned into named lists such as "Tonight's monsters".
Browse and random
Spells by level and class, monsters by challenge rating, items by rarity and the rules by chapter. A random monster for a challenge rating band, or a random spell of a level.
Share a record
As clean plain text with the SRD attribution line, or as a record that opens in TableSync DM or a friend's Codex.
Comfortable to read
Larger text and a high-contrast reading mode. On a tablet the list and the open record sit side by side.
What is in TableSync Codex?
The System Reference Document 5.1 and 5.2.1, and nothing else: 370 monsters, 341 spells and 1,297 items, each counted once across the two printings; the classes with their features and level tables, the species, backgrounds and feats; conditions, diseases and actions; the rules reference sections and the glossary. No sourcebook content is included.
How does TableSync Codex work with the other TableSync apps?
Each TableSync app has one job and hands its work to the others as a file or a code, with no account and no server in between.
- To TableSync DM: a monster goes into an encounter or the running fight; a rule, a spell or an item is saved to the DM's notes.
- To a friend's TableSync Codex: a record, which opens straight to that page.
On Android, Send goes straight into the other app when it is installed, and to its page when it is not. Anything sent of the wrong kind is refused with the name of the app that opens it.
Should I use the Android app or the web app?
Use the Android app on the phone in your pocket at the table. Use the web app on a computer while you prep, or on an iPad or iPhone: it is the same reference at undeployedadam.com/tablesync/codex/.

How do I install TableSync Codex on Android?
TableSync Codex is coming to Google Play. Until then it installs from a file, which Android calls sideloading.
- On your phone, tap Download for Android. The file is
TableSync-Codex-1.0.0.apk, 3.4 MB. - Open the downloaded file. If Android says your browser is not allowed to install unknown apps, tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, and go back.
- Tap Install. Android may warn that the app is from an unknown developer, because the file is not delivered through Google Play. Check it under Verifying the APK if you want to be sure it is the one published here.
- Open TableSync Codex and start typing.
What does TableSync Codex do with my data?
Almost nothing, and nothing leaves the device: the Android app declares no internet permission. There is no account, no TableSync server, no advertising, no analytics, no crash reporting and no third-party SDK.
- Your recent records, your lists and your reading settings stay in the app's own storage on the device.
- Sharing a record goes where you send it: another app on the device, the share sheet, or a file you save.

Questions
What is TableSync Codex?
TableSync Codex is a free, offline rules reference for fifth edition tabletop games, on Android and in any browser. It holds every spell, monster, item, class, species, background, feat, condition and rules section in the SRD 5.1 and 5.2.1, with one search, filters, cross-links and tappable dice.
What content does TableSync Codex include?
The System Reference Document 5.1 and 5.2.1 and nothing else: 370 monsters, 341 spells and 1,297 items, each counted once across both printings, with the classes, species, backgrounds, feats, conditions and rules sections they define. No sourcebook content is included.
Does TableSync Codex work offline?
Yes, always. The Android app carries the whole SRD and declares no internet permission, so it works with no signal and sends nothing anywhere.
Does TableSync Codex have the 2014 or the 2024 rules?
Both. Where a record exists in both printings of the SRD it shows the newest by default, with a one-tap switch to the other, and labels every record SRD 5.1 or SRD 5.2.1.
Can TableSync Codex find a spell I misspell?
Yes. The search forgives case, punctuation, plurals and a one-letter typo, so "firebal" finds Fireball, and it ranks exact names first.
How is Codex different from the compendium in TableSync Player?
The Player's compendium lives inside a character sheet, for the character you are playing. Codex is the whole SRD as a reference on its own, with filters, cross-links, lists and sharing, for anyone not holding a character.
Is TableSync Codex on Google Play?
Not yet: TableSync Codex is coming to Google Play. Today it is a free APK download from this page, version 1.0.0, for Android 7.0 or later, and a web app in any browser.
Is TableSync Codex an official product?
No. It is an independent, free tool, not affiliated with, approved or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast. Its content is the System Reference Document, which Wizards of the Coast publishes under CC BY 4.0.
Verifying the APK
The file is TableSync-Codex-1.0.0.apk, 3.4 MB, published
2026-10-23. On a computer:
Get-FileHash "TableSync-Codex-1.0.0.apk" -Algorithm SHA256
It should print, exactly:
C5201E6247EB9FFF3AD6094E9BB759D7E2DE05C095187FA30F64D0D835CFBBD4
The APK is signed with the project's own key rather than delivered through Google Play, which is why Android calls the developer unknown. The hash above is the check that means something; every TableSync APK's hash is also in SHA256SUMS.txt beside the files on this site.
